A player\u2019s goal is to form a high-ranking hand, or \u201cpot,\u201d at the end of each betting round by raising and\/or calling other players\u2019 bets. The pot consists of all bets placed throughout the game. The highest-ranking hand wins the pot, unless it is a pair or better.<\/p>\n

Players start the game with an ante or blind bet, and then the dealer shuffles the cards. The player to the left of the dealer cuts, and the dealer deals each player 2 cards. After the first betting round is over, the dealer puts 3 cards on the table that everyone can see, called community cards. Then there is another betting round, known as the flop.<\/p>\n
