Poker is a family of card games that are played worldwide. The games vary in the number of cards used, the deck configuration, and the rules, but all have one or more rounds of betting.<\/p>\n
Standard hands include: High cards, One Pair, Two Pairs, Straight, Flush, Full house and Four of a Kind.<\/p>\n
Depending on the variant of poker being played, some games award the pot to the highest-ranked hand. This is done either by a specific ranking or by a combination of rank and suit.<\/p>\n
In some games, the ace is deemed the lowest card and is treated as a non-ranking card. In those games, aces are called \u201cpocket aces.\u201d<\/p>\n
Players can discard some of their original cards and take new ones from the undealt portion of the deck. The players then bet again, and the player with the highest hand wins.<\/p>\n
The players may also opt to \u201ccheck\u201d the pot, which means that they do not want to bet any more money and instead will wait for a new raise by the player in front of them. When a new raise comes, each player in turn must decide whether to call or fold their hand.<\/p>\n
Many games of poker require a compulsory bet at the start of the hand, commonly referred to as an ante or blind. In these cases, the first player to act must post a small bet, and the next must post a big bet.
